I am grateful, are you?

Well, here goes, the year is almost over. Are you excited about 2015? I am because so much has happened in 2014 and I want to keep moving forward with a focus about all aspects of my life.

My focus on health has kept moving on in some many positive ways. I was able to read several health books, my favorite being “Beat the heart Attack Gene” by Bradley Bale and Amy Doneen. I have had the good fortune to hear them speak several times (at an AAOSH meeting and at a PerioProtect meeting) and they are on top when it comes to helping prevent heart attacks. What is so unique about their medical practice is that they expect their patient’s to have excellent periodontal health (ok, so this may be one of the reasons that I love their book…but I get why it is so important). They have all their patients checked out including having OralDNA tests done to make sure their mouths have the minimum amount of bad bacteria hanging out. This is something we have incorporated into Southern California Dental Health Associates, if patients want to know or if they are not responding to conventional therapy we get a better roadmap to fight gum disease.

We are using the Laser more and more in our office to help treat our patients. We have several ways we can help, from simple fillings, to working on gum tissue. We even have cold laser therapy to help patients with pain, especially joint pain. We can help with cold sores and canker sores as well.

And of course, last but not least for Southern California Dental Health Associates was the hire of Maria as our hygiene coordinator. What a personality she has, the office is so quiet if she is out, but she brings so much positivity into the office that we had to create a new title for her “Chief Inspirational Officer”

I have continues on my own personal path to trying and take 50 years to age the next 25. I will be turning 57 in March next year, but I really don’t feel close to being that old (except when I am around my kids who are old enough now to make realize that I have aged). I continue to exercise regularly, eat well, and have started taking a new supplement that helps my body produce more anti-oxidants to help slow down the aging process.

I was able to take two great trips with my boys, one to Arizona to see the Eagles play and one to San Diego to see the Broncos play. My kids got a split on their games…maybe next year we will go to home games in Philadelphia and Denver.

There are so many things I am grateful for, my family, my friends, my career, my team and of course all my wonderful patients. I hope that this holiday season finds that you can reflect as well and enjoy the time with your loved ones.

Happy Holidays to all and may all your wishes come true in the coming year.
