A Reflection on Father’s Day

I just wanted to take a second and reflect on Father’s Day this year.

Tomorrow is Father’s Day and tonight is the 6 year anniversary of my father’s passing.  This is a time of reflection for me since my father was such a giant influence in my life.  And I don’t know if it is because I am a health care provider or what but I have never mourned the loss of my father.  To me is more about I came to praise Caesar, not bury him.  My father lived a great life, he accomplished so much and led by example of how he led his life.  To this day I don’t feel that I have come close to leaving a mark on this world like he has.  But I do miss my dad, his wisdom, his wit and of course his bad jokes ( a trait my kids have said I definitely inherited).  Happy Father’s Day Dad

But it is also Father’s Day for me.  But I have to be honest, every day feels like father’s day for me.  I have two boys, Josh and Joey and they continue to make me proud to be their father every single day.  Josh is a musician and Joey an actor, they are pursuing their passions in very competitive fields.  They are best friends and really just a joy to be around.  Are they perfect NO and I don’t expect them to be.  But they are both healthy and functioning parts of society, both are committed to knowing the facts about subjects they care about.  And yes, they both make fun of me every opportunity that they can, I LOVE that.  So from my standpoint I can call tomorrow Kid’s Day because that’s how much I love my boys.  And it that way I can say every day is Father’s day for me.
