A GIRAFFE WALKS INTO A BAR…….

So it has been a little while since I have blogged so I just wanted to share a perfectly beautiful day I had yesterday here in Los Angeles

It all started with a great late morning meal at a little place in Los Feliz called the Mustard Seed Café on Hillhurst Dr.  They have a sign in the shop that says if I remember correctly Think Less and Eat More.   My friend had a Tuna Melt Quesadilla which was really good and I have a breakfast burrito with a side of fruit.  We were able to eat outside so our four legged friend could be with us and after we finished we were able to walk causally up and down the street.

We dropped Tedi the dog off at my place and then went to the Vintage Los Feliz Cinemas on Vermont Ave. just south of Franklin for a matinee of “The Big Sick” which was just a really good movie and is where the title of this blog comes from.  It was a really small theatre, but the seats were comfortable and it was only $13 for two tickets.  Mantinees’ here I come.  And after the show we did a little shopping at some really interesting boutiques.

My friend left for home with Tedi and I had a quick work out as I was going to a local play that my son Joey’s acting coach (and my personal friend) had a role in called Psyche on Vine.  The premise is that Psychic on vine is the hottest restaurant in Los Angeles and all the waiters are psychologists to help the patron’s issues.  It is very well written witty and flows incredibly well.

The funny thing was that it was held at the 3 Clubs Bar in Hollywood and since there were two of us we were sat at a table of 6 where there was only a gentleman there who introduced himself as Christian. He asked why we were there and Joey told him about his acting coach, the one and only Brian Lally.  Christian told us that he was there to see his friend Sean, who Joey recognized in the playbill.  Christian told us that Sean had done some time on the soap opera The Young and the Restless to which Joey said that was cool as that was pretty successful show.

So after the show Brian, Joey and I were having something to eat after the show and told him about who we were sitting with.  Turns out, according to Brian, that Christian is actually Christian Jules Le Blanc who is one of the stars of The Young and the Restless.

It was one of the most complete days I have had in a long time.  A wonderful morning and afternoon with my friend, time for a workout, and a cool play with my son. It was very gratifying as dad to see how well my son related to Christian without even knowing who he was.  I got to go to sleep that night as a proud papa.
